The First Stone Pendant

Every maker remembers their first finished piece — the one that carried both hesitation and pride in equal measure. For me, it was this pendant, carved from a stone found on the beach, shaped and polished by hand until its quartz and dark veins shone through.

It was not just any stone. It became a marker of beginning — the moment when a simple beach find transformed into jewelry, when possibility became craft. The wire wrapping gave it form, but the work of carving and polishing gave it soul.

I gave it to my mother, Kathy, because beginnings deserve to rest with the people who shaped us first. The quartz carries light, the darker mineral its grounding, together a reminder that strength is born from contrast.

This keepsake is more than a pendant. It is a first chapter, a proof of hands learning to shape stone, and a gift for the woman who taught me how to shape love.

I’m Kerry, the heart behind Kerry’s Keepsakes. I believe every forgotten object carries a story, and with a little care it can become something meaningful again. Guided by memory, magic, and the rhythm of the moon, I create keepsakes that honor the past, celebrate the present, and invite connection.
